Barnet Alliance for Public Services - residents, local organisations and trade unions campaigning for high quality public services in the London Borough of Barnet.
We are collecting signatures for the ‘Hands off our Barnet! Stop the One Barnet programme!’ petition.
You can download a copy of the petition here – or several copies! – and collect signatures from friends, neighbours, workmates…
We are aiming for 7,000 signatures by November, which will allow us to demand a debate in the Barnet Council chamber on this crucial issue – that’s right, there has never been a full public debate before!
Please let us know of your progress in collecting signatures – email barnetalliance4publicservices@gmail.com. The text of the petition is:
We, residents of Barnet, are alarmed at the council’s plan known as the ONE BARNET PROGRAMME, to hand over our public services to private for-profit companies. We call for an immediate stop to these measures until the issue is put to the electorate in the form of a simple YES or NO referendum on the ONE BARNET PROGRAMME.
On the reverse of the petition sheet is a list of Barnet councillors. Please contact your councillor and ask them where they stand on One Barnet.
