Celebrate Our High Street - North Finchley, Saturday 2 March

Barnet's many high streets are suffering in the recession. Traders have had a battle royal with Barnet Council to get them to understand their customers' problems with the parking regime, which is harming business. A group of residents has put together a musical celebration of the traders of North Finchley High Road. Join them on Saturday 2 March, as they visit several shops with poems, songs and costumes. Meet at 2pm, in front of Bohemia, 764 North

BAPS response to the council’s attack on Maria Nash

Questions need to be asked – why is it that a resident had no other choice but to apply for Judicial Review in an attempt to save her own and her neighbours' future? Who is to blame for this? And how will a council that refused to engage in meaningful consultation with its residents pay the cost of its follies, a cost that could have so easily been avoided if they only had listened? Cllr Cornelius will say ‘costs will be paid for by cuts to services'.

NEW PETITION: Oppose privatisation of Regulatory Services

The government is using Barnet Council as a pilot to privatise public services, leaving people without influence on policy through the ballot box and without a say in how their council is run and their council tax spent. We need to prevent the privatisation of Regulatory Services to ensure that councils fulfil their statutory duties to protect the health, and safety of residents. We are concerned that Barnet Council is about to hand over its Regulatory
